Imagine going on a night out; the best night out ever, in fact. You dance, you drink a few too many and you stumble the streets having the time of your life. Then you awake the next morning in a pit of blood-soaked Hell now having to fight for that life. Welcome to Killer Escape!
Personally, I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve woken up locked in a cell in a cold, blood-spattered basement with a man in a hockey mask threatening to butcher me, but for some, I suppose, using your head to escape from a psychotic killer’s death-dungeon before he removes it for you could be a whole new horrific experience. And you will need to use your noggin, because this is no run-and-punch-in-panic action app, but rather a delightfully detailed puzzler that requires a combination of observation, trial and error and lateral thinking to avoid ending up, well, hacked up.
Set against the backdrop of some splendidly gruesome graphics, the puzzles in question run the gaming gamut from the utterly obvious to the fairly frustrating, but, ultimately, it’s all just a matter of exploring all possibilities and, once you get a feel for how it flows, the solutions to most problems are just a matter of putting the pieces together
With plenty of levels to beat and enough puzzle diversity to prove your mental dexterity, this may not be the most taxing app of its type, but it’s certainly one of the most pleasingly playable.
THE BOTTOM LINE
In essence, Killer Escape, is little different to any other room-escape app (of which there are many), except that it’s far more stylishly designed, deeply detailed and brutally backstoried than any other of its ilk. A little short, perhaps, but those aforementioned elements combine to provide the ‘killer app’ of this Killer app.
