If you are a DIY enthusiast, then here is something that you might want to consider doing – that is, turning the Amazon Kindle Fire into a Google Nexus 7. Just how is that possible, you ask? Certainly there is no All Spark involved here, but fret not – it is a good thing there is a video that shows you it is possible. A XDA Developers user who calls himself Hashcode has written up instructions on how you will be able to install Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean on an original Kindle Fire from Amazon, while retaining most of its features.
While sound still works, the microphone doesn’t, and other features that will not be hanging around with this Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean update include deep sleep mode, Swype keyboard, multi-user profiles and USB camera support. Battery life is also said to have suffered, and you will have to make do with a lower resolution display compared to that found on the Google Nexus 7. What do you think of such projects, and do you think they have a place in the fast changing world of hardware?
