A screengrab from the next iteration of Kinect has seemingly appeared on the web, with the image showing off the device's 3D mapping skills.
Microsoft is keeping quiet about just what technology will end up in the second-generation of Kinect but all rumours are pointing to a device that's much more sophisticated in pin-pointing gamers' movements.
The latest screengrab seems to show this; the rendering of two people patting their heads and rubbing their stomachs is very detailed – although doesn't show people's lips, so this may mean that the lip-synching rumour is false.
Kinect-ing the dots
The Twitter account that posted the image is @superDaE who has posted images featuring Durango, the supposed codename for the Xbox 720, before so it's possible that the image is the real deal.
Back in July, the account posted information about Durango as well as code to prove he was indeed working on a dev kit.
It also fits in with Microsoft's own leaked Xbox 720 document which promises better movement mapping with the new Kinect and all sorts of other goodies, including Blu-ray functionality and 3D.
It is thought that Kinect 2 will come bundled with the Xbox 720 – which means we should see it in the shops within the next 18 months.
