Released early Q2 last year, the LG Optimus G Pro is LG’s entry into the phablet world. Rocking a 5.5-inch display, the G Pro dwarfs pretty much all smartphones other than the Galaxy Notes, One Maxes, and Z Ultras in the world. Unfortunately up until now, the device hasn’t received its official dose of Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Luckily, this is now starting to change, as a few regional variants of the device are now receiving OTA updates to 4.4.2 KitKat.
News of the update rollout comes courtesy of XDA Forum Member necoritol. As expected, the first markets to receive the update are in LG’s homeland, South Korea. However, this means that currently only the F240 version of the device is seeing the update. Specifically, only the F240S and F240L, as LG is negotiating with carriers regarding updating the F240K. While this means nothing directly for the E988 variant available elsewhere in the world, it is a sign that good things are to come to the device in the (hopefully) near future.
