The number of globally activated Android devices now totals a staggering 190 million, according to Google’s CEO and co-founder Larry Page.
Speaking at the search giant’s fourth quarter profit announcement, Page revealed that 60 million of these Android activations have occurred in the past three months.
“The growth of Android is mind-boggling,” commented Page at the profit announcement. “Over 190 million devices have now been activated globally.”
“I’m super-excited about the soon-to-be released new version of Android called Ice Cream Sandwich, that’s right, Ice Cream Sandwich. You won’t believe what we manage to get done in this release.”
As Page alluded to above, Ice Cream Sandwich will be unveiled to the world this coming Wednesday in Hong Kong. We’ll be live blogging its hotly anticipated launch, so remember to tune into Life Of Android for the all the latest news, opinion and, hopefully, a review of Google’s latest OS for smartphones and tablets.
