Lawrence Lessig, a cofounder of the nonprofit Creative Commons, which offers licenses for creative works that allow people to reproduce or edit without worrying about copyright implications, is dropping out of the presidential race as a Democratic candidate.
Lessig announced his candidacy in September. Today he announced that he was putting the campaign to an end — in a YouTube video.
Lessig, a professor at the Harvard Law School, wasn’t the only person connected to the technology industry in the 2016 presidential race. The other one is John McAfee — but he’s not running as a Democrat. He’s from the newly formed Cyber Party.
