It looks like China Mobile isn’t the only Chinese carrier that’s going to launch a new Android-powered Lenovo smartphone in the near future. China’s No.2, China Unicom, also has one in the works, and it’s called the LePhone S680.
This handset has recently been certified by the relevant Chinese authorities, and because of that published certification we can look at a couple of pictures of the device, and we know most of its specs.
As you can see, the LePhone S680 is quite similar in terms of looks to the LePhone S899t that’s heading to China Mobile soon. However, the China Unicom-bound S680 comes with lower-end specs (though it still runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich).
The Lenovo LePhone S680 has a 480×800 touchscreen of unknown size, a Qualcomm MSM7227A processor (which can be clocked at 800 MHz or 1 GHz, but the exact frequency chosen by Lenovo isn’t known yet), and a 5 MP camera.
Its dimensions are 127x67x10.7 mm, and it weighs 139 g. It will be out in black and white. The release date is still a mystery, as is the pricing of this device. But with those specs, expect it to be even more affordable than the aforementioned S899t. We’ll bring you more details once we have them.
