Lenovo today launched Vibe K5 Smartphone in India that is a direct successor to its A6000 smartphone launched last year. Retaining the same price as its predecessor, Lenovo Vibe K5 comes packed with a 64-Bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 415 Octacore CPU combined with a 12.7cm (5) high-definition display.
Earlier: Mar 1, 2016 –Just after unveiling the Lenovo Vibe K5 and Vibe K5 Plus at MWC, now the company has officially announced the launch date for the Indian market as March 15th. This year Lenovo has already launched the Vibe K4 Note, Vibe X3 and A7000 Turbo in India. While the Vibe K5 comes with entry-level specifications, the Vibe K5 Plus can be priced around the same price as Vibe K4 Note, which comes with almost same specifications. Stay tuned for the official pricing since the scheduled launch event is just two weeks away.
Earlier: Feb 22, 2016 –Lenovo, a Chinese electronics giant has made world rethink about the mid-range smartphones, as the premier segment. The company has been launching a lot of handset in this segment since it first found its success with handsets like A7000, K3 Note and the recently launched Vibe K4 Note. Now at the MWC stage, the company has showcased its new mid-rangers; Vibe K5 and Vibe K5 Plus sporting metal build.
The Vibe K5 is powered by a Snapdragon 415 chipset, which is an Octa-core processor uses eight Cortex A53 cores, clocking at 1.4GHz. It has a support of Adreno 405 GPU, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which can be expanded using microSD card slot. It sports a 5-inch 720p display resolution and runs on the Android Lollipop 5.1 based custom UI.
In the camera department, the rear side houses a 13-megapixel image sensor while the front facing camera module is of 5-megapixel resolution with fixed focus lens. The device has 4G LTE support on both the SIM slots, other connectivity options includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, microUSB 2.0 port and GPS. All this is powered by a 2750mAh capacity battery.
The Vibe K5 Plus simply have three things different; a processor, display resolution and pricing. The K5 Plus comes with a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 616 chipset, which is in-line with SD 615, a more powerful and efficient if one say. Sporting Quad-cores, Cortex A53, it clocks at 1.7GHz. It has the support of similar Adreno 405 GPU at 550MHz rate, while the RAM and internal storage are similar as well at 2GB and 16GB, respectively.
The camera package is same as well, 13-megapixel sensor on the rear side while the 5-megapixel sensor on the front. It boasts 4G LTE on both the SIM slots, as well as has 3G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, microUSB port and GPS. It is powered by 2750mAh capacity battery, same as the Vibe K5. Coming to the display resolution, it has a 1080p display with 5-inch real estate.
The price of the Vibe K5 is at $129, while pumped up the screen and processor would cost you as little as $20, which means Vibe K5 Plus is priced at $149. It would be available in three color finishes; Silver, Grey and Gold. The phones would be coming to the existing Lenovo markets, so we don’t expect it to launch in the United States or even Canada.
