The original G Flex was the first properly curved smartphone we've seen and you can read our review here. Well, the smartphone hasn't been around for that long but already details on the LG G Flex 2 have been leaked including release date and specs.
LG G Flex 2: Release date
Regular tipster on all things mobile, evleaks, is the source of this information and suggests that the LG G Flex 2 will arrive during the first quarter of 2015. Mid-Q1 pegs the device for February which is when the smartphone and tablet focussed Mobile World Congress tech show takes place in Barcelona.
LG G Flex 2: Specs
Evleaks also speculated that an LG handset, unnamed, will come with a Qualcomm MSM8994 processor and is expected to be the first Android Silver device. The notorious leaker also said it will be a successor to theNexus 6 initiative (there will be no Nexus 6 according to evleaks) and will launch on Sprint in the US.
LG handset, running a Qualcomm MSM8994, to be among first Silver devices. Successor to the Nexus 6 initiative, expected on Sprint in the US.
That Qualcomm chip is the Snapdragon 810 which is the firm's upcoming 64-bit enabled chipset for mobiles which it says will appear in devices in the first half of 2015. This means it could well be the G G Flex 2.
As well as 64-bit, the Snapdragon 810 supports Ultra HD (4k), 4G LTE and 55Mp photography. It's an octa-core chip with four Cortex-A57 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores – exciting times ahead.
The original G Flex features a 6in screen and we don't expect that to change much. However, we hope that the disappointing 720p will be upgraded to at least Full HD. LG is working on improving its curved screen technology.
What it means exactly is unclear, but evleaks says the G Flex 2 will possible "feature even more unique than self-healing plastic".
