The LG G3 has appeared in Carphone Warehouse's coming soon and will arrive on 1 July. The retailer has now put it's pre-orders live which start at £37 per month with a free LG G3 phone.
Mobiles.co.uk which is owned by the firm estimates that the LG G3 will cost £33-38 per month on release, including unlimited minutes, unlimited text and 1GB data on all key networks.
O2 will offer you the LG G3 from early July but we can't tell you how much it will cost yet.
Three has now put the LG G3 up for pre-order with contracts starting at £35 per month. Alternatively you can get it for £499 on PAYG. Three has the earliest release date so far (see below).
LG G3: Release date
LG has confirmed that the G3 will launch in Korea next week and will hit Europe in June. However, an email from O2 states that the G3 will arrive on its network in July. Clove, which has given us a price (below) will release the G3 on 1 July. We'll update you as we hear more.
Amazon has not only revealed a cheaper price than rivals for the G3 (above), it will also be selling it from the 28 June. Three says the phone is expected on 26 June which is the earliest date we've seen.
The LG G3 launch event took place on 27 May. There were press events in San Francisco, New York and London with unveilings in Seoul, Singapore and Istanbul the following day. See LG G3 launch: as it happened.
"I'm writing to let you know that LG will be hosting an exciting event in London at the end of May to announce our next big global device after G2," said LG "With G2 being so well regarded, we have high expectations for its successor, as I'm sure you do as well. So to give our newest device a proper introduction in the presence of as many industry influencers as possible, we will be holding unveiling events in six global cities on May 27 and May 28."
The LG G2 was announced in August 2013 and earned our Gold Award. It currently sits at the top of our best smartphone chart. In other words, we were extremely impressed with the phone and that means the G3 has very large shoes to fill.
EE and Phones 4U
Something which has come as a shock is that both EE and Phones 4U won't be selling the LG G3 at all, according to CNET. It's thought that this is because they already stock many other flagship Android smartphones.
LG G3: Specifications
Quad HD screen
A key feature of the LG G3 is its Quad HD screen which had been rumoured for a long time and ahead of the launch has been confirmed by LG itself before the launch.
After passing verified tests by NEMKO, LG said: "The certification comes shortly before the new Quad HD LCD panel will be unveiled with the forthcoming LG’s flagship smartphone to be launched in the first half of the year."
It's called Quad HD because it's four times the amount of pixels than 720p, also known as HD. The screen will be 5.5in in size using an AH-IPS LCD panel and a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. That means a pixel density of 534ppi.
LG told PC Advisor that a device with a QHD display will arrive later this year which is, of course, the LG G3.
Processor and RAM
The LG G3's specification has now been confirmed to include a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chip with Adreno 330 graphics and 2GB of RAM in the 16GB model and 3GB of RAM in the 32GB model.
The camera is the same 13Mp sensor found in the G2 but with improved OIS (optical image stabilisation) technology, Laser Auto focus, dual-tone flash and the ability to shoot 4k video.
Like the iPhone 5s and Samsung Galaxy S5, the G3 was tipped to feature a fingerprint scanner. It didn't happen.
On the software side of things, the LG G3 comes with Android 4.4 KitKat and the firm's latest graphical user interface. The Android overlay has had something of an overhaul with a flat style, 'mature colours' and a circular motif.
Storage and battery
The LG G3 features a microSD slot (up to 128GB), which is shown below along side a 3,000mAh removable battery. The device will come with 16- or 32GB of storage.
The LG G3 kicks some butt when it comes to connectivity, with Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, USB 2.0, Infrared, wireless charging and LTE-Advanced.
LG G3: Quick Circle case
The latest official word from LG on the G3 is a good look at the new QuickCircle case which will be the first accessory for the new smartphone. It's a follow-up the LG G2's QuickWindow case which used a rectangle rather than a circle.
For starters the video quickly shows the LG G3 before the case it put on. Like other cases with a window through to the screen, the QuickCircle case allows you to control the G3 without opening it. Users can operate the camera, control music playback, make calls and access other apps. Take a look at it in action below.
