The LG G4 is shaping up to be one of the best smartphones of 2015. Now, another new rumor reveals how the company could pack its upcoming handset with even more technology.
According to The Korea Herald, LG is seriously considering adding a fingerprint scanner to the G4, though the company denied the rumor in its official response. The biometric sensor would be built into the device’s power button, which sits on the back of the device like it did on the G3 and G2. If LG does include the new feature it could be part of a push into mobile payments, where rivals like Apple, Samsung and Google are already making quick progress.
According to one source speaking to The Korea Herald, LG first considered a fingerprint reader after Apple unveiled Touch ID with the iPhone 5s, and almost included its own sensor with the LG G3. However, the company wasn’t able to get the technology working in time. Instead we got Knock Code, which uses a tap-based pattern to unlock the device.
