LG took a big step towards calming their Android user base this morning, advising that they are working to bring Android 4.0 to a number of their devices. Rumors were rampant over the last few days that LG would not support the dual-core Optimus 2X/ T-Mobile G2X with an Ice Cream Sandwich update. According to the company's Facebook page, this handset is but one of a number of phones expecting to see the new hot Android build.
LG firmly denies the rumors that claim LG will not be providing the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OS update for the LG Optimus 2X. These rumors are NOT true. LG is currently in the process of planning the ICS OS update for the LG Optimus 2X as well as other LG high-end smartphones. Detailed information on the ICS OS update schedule for specific models will be announced, once the ICS OS is publicly released by Google. Please stay tuned for more updates from LG.
Thank you very much.
We'll be interested to see what they term "high end" devices over the next few weeks (or months) as LG has a practice of catering to entry level handsets. It will also be fun to see how timely these updates are and whether or not people are willing to wait around.
