Beginning July 10th, a software update to the LG Optimus G Pro with new camera and video features will hit the mobile universe.
One of my favorite parts of the update is the addition of Dual Camera, which lets you capture photos using both rear and front facing cameras. You can already record video with both cameras, so it’s great to have this available for still shots too. In our family my sister takes all the pictures so we don’t have many pictures of her in them. With Dual Camera, she can be in the picture with us.
The new Video Pause and Resume feature really came in handy at my nephew’s graduation recently. This new capability lets you stop and start recording so you can include all the highlights of the event in one video instead of having snippets spread across multiple videos. You can even edit the footage right on the phone. Additionally, this update comes with Smart Video, which detects when you look away and automatically pauses the video you’re watching so you don’t miss any action.
This update also includes new ways to better manage applications, battery usage and data usage:
Unused Apps notifies me if an app has not been used for a certain period so I can un-install it and save on any background data that it was using or update notifications from Play Store.
It also includes shortcuts in the AT&T folder to get directly to the battery and data usage screens. From there I can proactively manage applications that are consuming data and utilizing more battery than I would like.
Access Unused Apps by going to Settings>Apps>Menu>Unused Apps.
Download the update while connected to Wi-Fi by selecting Menu > Settings >General. Then select About phone > Software update > Update Now and follow the prompts.
