LG started September a little early by making the Optimus G official today. September will see an insane amount of new phones released, meaning a lot of work for me ;) The LG Optimus G packs a rather powerful quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro (APQ8064) clocked at 1.5GHz a core, LTE connectivity, 2GB of RAM, a 13MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera and a 2,100 mAh battery. The screen is a 4.7-inch True HD (1280 x 768) IPS LCD packing LG’s much hyped in-cell technology, which manages to pack the digitizer and the screen into one fully integrated piece of touch technology. This screen technology ultimately leads to even thinner devices, and the LG Optimus G measures only 8mm in thickness. Surprisingly, LG will only offer this device with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and not the much newer Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. You’d expect the company will at least provide an update to 4.1 soon after the launch.
Korea will get the Optimus G in September, while a worldwide launch of the device will follow later this year.
