LG, like many other smartphone manufacturers, releases quite a few mid-range and even low-end smartphones. Even though they make the most of their money off of their high-end models like the LG G5 and the announced but not yet available LG V20, they do still sell a good amount of their “cheaper” smartphones. The latest smartphone to land in that mid-range segment is the LG X Power, which Sprint has announced will be available on their network on September 23rd. However, Boost Mobile (one of Sprint’s two prepaid brands) has the device available today for just $129. It’ll be slightly more expensive through Sprint than Boost Mobile. As Sprint will offer it on installment plans of $9/month for 24 months with $0 down.
The LG X Power gets its name from the battery that is inside running the show. LG has managed to fit a 4100mAh battery inside this smartphone. And it has a relatively small display, at just 5.3-inches and a 720p resolution at that. Meaning that you should get some amazing battery life out of this smartphone. It’s running on the MediaTek Helio P10 – making it the first smartphone available on a US carrier with a MediaTek chipset inside – along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. There is a micro SD card slot included, which can support up to 256GB of storage. For optics, there is a 13-megapixel sensor on the back and a 5-megapixel front-facing sensor.
This new smartphone will go great with Sprint’s new plans. Like Boost Mobile’s Unlimited Unhook’d plan. Which offers unlimited talk, text and optimized streaming videos, gaming and music for just $50 per month. A second line is going to cost you $30 per month, all the way up to a total of five lines. Sprint’s Unlimited Freedom plan is pretty similar, however it’s $60/month with the second line being $40/month and lines 3 through 10 costing $30/month. Sprint also offers Unlimited Freedom Premium for $80/month which gives you a higher quality video experience, instead of it being optimized to about 480p resolution.
LG’s X Power is available today both online and in-store at Boost Mobile. Next Friday it will be available at Sprint.
