The Earth is under an invasion once again, and it’s up to you to stop it in the new iOS game Line Defense. The game is reminiscent of the classic arcade title Missile Command, but updated for today’s touch devices. Missiles, asteroids, and alien ships are coming, and you need to draw lines to block the attacks before they hit the planet. The attacks becomes more varied and intense, and yet you still just keep drawing lines, although at a quicker pace. The simple line drawing set-up allows for the difficulty to ramp up as you face ten distinct levels.
Line Defense could easily be a simple endless arcade challenge, but it’s so much better to have ten levels to play. You have a set number of objects to fight off, and then each level includes a boss battle in which you need to ricochet the missiles back up to the alien ship. Each level includes its own city landscape to defend, as well as higher difficulty. It’s so nice to not have to restart at slow beginnings, and instead you can replay level five if you lose on level five. There’s also an unlockable endless mode to keep you coming back in the traditional arcade style. We have seen the path drawing set-up applied to brick breakers, and yet it seems even more intuitive in the Missiles Defense system.
Line Defense (Free, Universal) is a well-made arcade challenge that is well worth picking up on iOS.
