If you’re a fan of third-party Twitter apps on Android, you’ve no doubt heard of Fenix. Developed by Matteo Villa, Fenix has been one of our favorite Twitter apps for some time now, though unfortunately it ran into a snag back in April 2016. After hitting Twitter’s horrible token wall, Fenix was swiftly removed from the Google Play Store, only to be re-added a few days later. Since then, the app has been slow to introduce new features, and now we know why.
A preview of an all-new Fenix 2 app has just landed in the Play Store, and you can test it out right now.
Before you start using this as your main Twitter app, though, you should know a few things. This is a very early preview of the app, so you can expect to experience quite a few bugs. That’s because it’s still in development, so consider giving the developer as much feedback as you can if you run into any issues. You can reach out to the dev on Twitter at this link.
So far, the preview has been pretty solid for me. It resembles the original Fenix app quite a bit, and comes with support for multiple accounts, a number of different dark and light themes, and features large image and video previews (something I really liked about the first Fenix).
It’s worth noting that this will be an entirely separate app from the original Fenix, so you shouldn’t expect a free upgrade once the final version is released. As of right now we have no details on pricing, though we’d imagine it’ll cost only a few bucks.
