Sometimes we find a gem in BlackBerry App World and we just want to share our excitement with our readers. The latest app to fall under that category for me is called luko Frame for BlackBerry Playbook by developer luko.
luko Frame is an elegant digital music frame for tablet OS 1.0.8 or up. Set up is simple and they offer 2 versions: one paid at just $0.99, one FREE 3 day trial.
Main features: ° handy music player ° ability to view your pictures as a slideshow with nice and smooth transitions ° editable playlists for slideshow and music player (with possibility to remove single file or all files from playlist / add single file or all files from folder to playlist ° using built-in file browser) ° sorting options for playlist (sort items in your playlist by time added, folder/file name or random) ° repeat audio playlist option ° ability to prevent playbook from falling into standby / backlight dimming mode (handy when slideshow mode is active) ° nice looking clock
I still remember the name luko from their clever arcade game Stone Escape (based on physics engine). So it didn’t take me long to decide this would be a worthy title too.
The big win comes for me in form of support too. Audio formats: MP3, MP4, Wav, WMA, AAC plus image formats: JPG, PNG & GIF. Because there’s nothing more annoying than a product that just supports the developers favorite formats.
Setting up and enjoying your luko Frame just takes a couple minutes. You may need to name some photos first before selecting which images you want to show. Audio is managed using folders/files structure which makes choosing an entire album quick & painless.
The clock itself is my favorite part. The center of attention when your not showing a slide show. This is probably one of my favorite clock applications on the PlayBook thus far too. Maybe I haven’t spent enough time looking around or maybe I’m just a bit easier to please, who knows. Problem with some of the other apps in App World that claim to do the same as luko’s is they tend to crash. I’ve picked up a few over the past months and quickly deleted them. luko Frame has stood the test.
Nice UI, simple to use and set-up, plus a FREE Trial version to wet your appetite. The luko Frame will set you back just $0.99 and is available now.
