HTC’s head of design Scott Croyle will be leaving the company. The man behind the HTC One‘s amazing design is departing to work on his own projects, though for the time being – he will stay involved with the company in some way.
HTC described the move as a “long-term transition” but somehow we don’t buy that. It’s not like this is the first executive to leave the Taiwanese handset maker.
HTC remains at the forefront of smartphone innovation. Scott Croyle will be focusing on special projects and dedicated on next generation developments.
According to TheVerge, Croyle’s second-in-command, Jonah Becker, will likely take over most of the duties and step up to lead HTC’s San Francisco studio.
These are everything but great news for HTC, which has been losing market share to Samsung in recent years. We are hoping they’ll manage to turn things around, and with an awesome HTC One M8 and a number of low-to-mid range devices going to the emerging markets, they stand a chance to bring back the smile to their investors’ faces. We’ll see how that goes…
