Chinese manufacturer Meizu has announced that the MX2 and the MX3 smartphones will start receiving the Android 4.4.2 update later this month. The MX2 broke cover in 2012, so it’s commendable of Meizu to bring an update to its older smartphones as well. The MX3 however is its current flagship and was long expected to be receiving the update.
Even though Meizu is a Chinese company, the MX2 and the MX3 have sold in global markets as well, so there are quite a lot of users around the globe running these devices. The manufacturer has claimed that the update should start rolling out by April 28. Since both devices run the company’s proprietary Flyme UI, it is safe to assume that this will get an update as well.
The company is looking to launch an LTE variant of the MX3 by the third quarter of the year in the U.S. Expect the handset to be launched unlocked and off contract, similar to how it’s available elsewhere.
