boxo nMicrosoft’s Xbox Project Scorpio will only be released in 2017, meaning that for now we can only assume that Microsoft will be working on the console. However this doesn’t mean that the Redmond company will only plan their future once Scorpio is completed. In fact it seems that Microsoft already knows what’s next.
In response to a question posed by a fan on Twitter about the future of the Xbox console, Xbox boss Phil Spencer replied by saying, “Already have ideas for what could be after Scorpio. Great thing in gaming, early tech adopters and best creators of any industry.” However exactly what this means is really anyone’s guess.
We should point out that this is pretty much the strategy that Microsoft will be adopt when it comes to future Xbox consoles. As we reported the other day, Microsoft stated that the Xbox One could very well be the last console generation. What this means is that instead of having long gaps in between console releases, Microsoft believes that upgrades every couple of years is the way to move forward.
While we can’t speak for Sony, the company’s decision to launch the PS4 Neo could be taken as a sign that they believe that this is the correct way of moving forward in the console industry, but we suppose we’ll just have to wait and see what these companies might have in store for us in the future.
