Microsoft offers a good set of options when it comes to their Surface Pro 3 tablets, but at the end of the day these are not very customizable Windows tablets. Some of us would like more freedom to choose a version of the device we are truly happy with, so this week’s announcement may have some of you feeling trigger happy and pressing that buy button.
Ever wanted a Surface Pro 3 with Intel Core i7, but thought 256 GB of internal storage is overkill… or too expensive? The next step down used to be the i5 version with an Intel Core i5, but maybe you don’t want a Core i5 processor! What gives?
Microsoft finally gave us an in-between option this week, after they announced a new model of the Surface Pro 3 tablet which features an Intel Core i7 chipset, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. This one is priced at $1299, which is $250 less than the version right above it.
The only differentiation between these two Core i7 tablets is their internal storage. The cheaper one offers 128 GB while the next step up grants double the amount of storage capacity – 256 GB. Now, if you really want to spend no more than $1299 and really want 256 GB of storage, you can also go for the model right below the new tablet version, which gets the improved capacity but downgrades to an Intel Core i5 processor.
We say this is totally a good option for those who simply want the most power they can get without having to spend a fortune. After all, you can always use the microSD card reader or USB ports to expand your storage. Are any of you guys signing up? You can go ahead and purchase it straight from the Microsoft Store website.
