HTC is launching a lot of smartphones based on their flagship for 2015, the One M9, which was announced at this year’s CES event. While the design has been praised because it uses a two-toned metallic unibody, it has also been criticized as it looks very similar to the one they used in last year’s flagship model. A month after that announcement, we got the One E9+, which was a rather odd addition because while it is exclusive to China and it featured a construction that included metallic elements like the frame surrounding the device and a plastic back while actually upgrading its screen to 5.5 inches with QHD resolution (1440 x 2560 pixels), the rest of the specs were very similar, including the BoomSound front-facing speakers.
A little later, the company announced the One M9+, which some consider is what this year’s flagship should have been. The hardware features the same two-toned metallic design, but it brings back the Duo Camera to the 20.7-megapixel shooter included, the screen is a little bigger than the one on the flagship, but at 5.2 inches, its resolution is much higher at QHD and it even integrates a fingerprint scanner in the Home button. Recently, a handset that seems to be a combination of these two devices was announced, the One ME, featuring a metallic frame and a plastic back but also including the fingerprint scanner and the 5.2-inch QHD screen.
Now, another variant of the One series has been spotted in the TENAA certification documents. It is known as the One E9st, although this might not be the official name when it launches. This device is believed to be the regular (or standard) version of the plastic flagship, because its specs are much lower and while the design looks similar, it seems to belong to the Desire series based on the position of the cameras, plus it looks that it won’t feature the metallic frame. The 5.5-inch display has an HD resolution, RAM has been reduced to 2GB as well as the internal memory which sits at 16GB, although it can still be expanded by Micro SD cards. The main camera includes a 13-megapixel sensor and at the front, the 4-megapixel Ultrapixel camera is found just like in the rest of the devices. The octa-core processor runs at a speed of 1.5 GHz, but other details such as pricing or availability are still unknown.
