Normally the only ‘scenes’ you expect to see from the UK’s major cities are on the news and generally involve some kind of horrendous ‘in-it-together’-style mass crime spree or savage city sacking occurring. So, just for a change of pace, here are some sites from our streets of a more sedentary style…
When it comes to wallpapers, it’s all really a matter of personal taste. Some people favour family photos, others shots from satellites, sporting occasions or even anthropomorphised animals with hatefully misspelt captions, but one that’s always a winner is the city shot. Guaranteed to appeal to all but the most jaded of urbanites, generally people just love to rest their eyes on some of the most exotic images of the sprawl of civilisation, such as scenes from London, Leeds, Birmingham, Glasgow and Sheffield.
Okay, they might not have been amongst the first names that popped into your head, but bear with me, this is a UK app. Yes, while our fair capital may be a shoe-in as screen sprucer, the inclusion of, say, Sheffield over the likes of the mighty Manchester might seem a little odd; especially to a Mancunian such as myself.
However, with these five to choose from – and with more to follow soon – each option comes with a range of images to set as your live wallpaper and a season to select to bring your image to life: falling snowflakes in winter, what appears to be falling petals in spring, floating dandelion seeds in summer and falling leaves for autumn. Or if you’re feeling fruity you can elect to be entertained by the shooting stars of ‘Mystical’ or the olde world stylings of ‘History’.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Quick and easy to download and set-up your desired seasonal city, Mine City UK may be a little limited on the places it currently pushes, but with promises of expansion in the pipeline, it’s a nice little live wallpaper app for those with an eye for the urban.
