As you’ve probably come to expect at this point, the whole system is powered by a Raspberry Pi with RetroPie installed, but this one goes way beyond that. There’s also an NFC reader here that scans the 3D printed game cartridges (you’ll need to make those too) and loads up the game. Don’t worry, there’s no actual software on the cartridges, it’s all just for the spectacle. Even the controller is 3D printed and made from scratch using an Arduino. This is the epitome of over-engineered, but it’s also awesome. The best part is daftmike documents the whole process, from creating the case to making the controller, so you can do this for yourself or just take inspiration from some of the simpler parts.
