Aspiring musicians take note, Griffin is trying to make life a little easier for you. As long as you own an iPad, of course. If not, you’re going to have to tough it out the old-fashioned way.
Musically inclined owners of new, shiny iPads can dock their tablet into the Griffin StudioConnect, which acts as a charger and a bridge between the Garage Band app on the iPad and the musical instrument in question, to facilitate tracking, editing, and overdubbing. The StudioConnect features Audio In, Audio Out, MIDI In, and MIDI Out. Audio In comes with gain control, and a separate mixer can be plugged into the device using the 3.5 mm stereo headphone jack. There are also left and right line-level RCA plugs.
You can start mixing it up with the StudioConnect for about $150 when the device hits Griffin’s online store in February. A MIDI-only version, called the MIDIConnect, will also be available, for about $80.
