Munir Rahool sent this review yesterday after having played with the Nokia X2 for five days. The verdict is very positive. Cheers Munir!
It has been 5 days with Nokia X2 and I think I can talk about this new device available only in Pakistan at the time of writing these lines (Update – X2 is available in Bangladesh too now). I had to pick a Bright Orange color despite loving the bold Black one. Unfortunately these were the only two options available and I could not wait.
First impression upon holding Nokia X2 (against Nokia X) was “It’s big, heavy, slippery and Shiny”. Nokia X2 sure is a solid device in hands. It looks beautiful. The transparent layer is not as obvious as it was in Asha before that. In Black it is hardly noticeable. It leaves just an impression of something there being “Different” in a good way.
5mp, auto-focus camera, LED Flash, VGA Front camera
Dual sim, Bluetooth 4, etc.

I think there is no other Android of this specs is available anywhere in the world, in this price from any of the big and known names. Nokia did nail perfect combo of specs, price and looks, but – unfortunately Nokia being Nokia again. This device, with access of Google account, with working Whatsapp and worldwide availability will swallow the market share a whole, without choking on it, literally.
In UI, Nokia now included a third screen to enlist all installed apps WindowsPhone style. Now we have our FastLane, then Tiles and then Apps Drawer. Personally, I think we don’t need that Tiles panel at all anymore.
Another welcoming element is the App Switcher, linked to Long-press of Back Button. And last but not least, Notifications get a new home at Drop down bar – just like regular old Androids. We can get to notifications from any app with that.
Performance of course is better with improved hardware and awesome 1gb ram. I have never thought a small 0.3 inches increment in display will make that huge difference in my browsing experience.
Keep in mind Opera is coming as default Nokia X2 Internet browser so I installed Nokia Browser from store. Nokia X came with horribly slow browser, which after an update, magically turned into a wonderful browser and I had to get it in X2 too.
Nokia X came with a perfect – and I repeat a PERFECT keyboard. I loved that the most. Guess what! No more of that Perfect keyboard in Nokia X2. I cannot find a single reason why wasting such a perfectly crafted code! I want that back in X2, Nokia.
Games like ShadowFight and Road Smash (which became really heavy after recent updates) worked smooth. Strangely a few games that worked on every device including Nokia X wasn’t working on X2 at all. And what is with Whatsapp!
Photos are here to give you a clear idea about camera. Thank you for Flash, Nokia. I needed that, not just for photos but to look in the dark hours and what a Flash it is.
How much I think X2 is good? I use a 7inch tablet for just about everything but I did not touch it for 3 days straight, other than for checking gmails.
That did not happen when I had Nokia X, or other Android I bought before that. My cousin saw it, bought a black X2 very next morning after ditching his some-Samsung. He is satisfied with the battery results and loved the camera but hated the other unnecessary complications Nokia gifted us.
The only thing I hate doing on X2 is – Typing. I need THAT Nokia X Keyboard.
