For the first time, Mophie has integrated wireless charging in the battery cases themselves. Even better, the cases are compatible with the Qi and PMA standards, so, just like the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, they can be charged wirelessly from most chargers. In real life, that means you won’t need to take off the case to juice up the phone, neither through a wired, nor a wireless charger.
The Mophie Juice Pack for the Galaxy S7 gives you an extra 60% battery life, thanks to the 2,950mAh cell inside. The obvious downsides are the weight and the bulk. The 17.5-mm thick Juice Pack adds 100 grams to the Galaxy S7’s 152 grams, but at least you get some protection for your phone, something that an external battery wouldn’t provide.
The Galaxy S7 Edge Juice Pack features a 3,300mAh cell, extending the Edge’s battery life by 60%. This battery case is even thicker at 18.5-mm, adding 122 grams to the phone’s 157 grams.
For now, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Juice Packs are available exclusively in black. Both cases cost $99 (or €109.95 in Europe), which is quite steep, but you do get a brand-name product with excellent specs and the rare ability to charge wirelessly.
