The Moto X (2015), or Moto X 3rd gen, is a rumored flagship expected to be unveiled at IFA 2015 by Motorola. There have already been some specs leaks hinting at a 16 MP camera capable of some neat video-recording tricks, but now GFXBench might have revealed a few more. Read on to find out all we know about the Moto X (2015) price, release date, specs, and features.
A leaked GFXBench test for a Motorola device known as the XT1585 "Kinzie" has appeared online revealing some exciting specs. The benchmark shows a device with a 5.5-inch QHD display, Snapdragon 810 processor, 20 MP rear camera, Adreno 430 GPU and 3 GB of RAM. Is this device the Moto X 3rd generation?
What's more likely is that these are the specs of Motorola's next DROID device. The Motorola DROID Turbo, a Verizon-exclusive handset, arrived shortly after the Moto X (2014) with a stronger set of specs, including an upgraded display and processor.
The specs which are displayed in the benchmark just seem too high-end for them to be included on a Moto X device, which typically hovers just below the top-tier flagships.
Leaked Moto X (2015) specs were recently uploaded by stjsgadgets-portal.com, which claims to have gathered the information from "insider sources". The next Moto X is said to house a 5.2-inch QHD display, Snapdragon 808 processor and 4 GB of RAM with a 3280 mAh battery to keep it all powered.
In addition, the camera comes in at 16 MP with ''clear pixel'' technology, and on the front is a 5 MP snapper. As for storage options, it looks like you'll be able to pick the handset up in 32 GB or 64 GB variants.
If true, then these Moto X (2015) specs place the phone up there with the likes of the LG G4 and Galaxy S6, as far as current flagship hardware is concerned, but that 1 GB of extra RAM could see it perform even better.
Moto X (2015) price
The first generation Moto X went on sale in the US in August 2013 for 579 USD, with the Moto X (2014) starting at 499 USD off-contract.
The Moto X 3rd gen price is probably going to be in the same region: we suspect somewhere between 499-599 USD. Since Motorola quickly reduced the price of the original Moto X after launch, it's unlikely that it will launch the Moto X 3rd generation at an 'unrealistic' price.
Moto X (2015) camera
STJSGadgets posted what appear to be specs for the Moto X (2015) camera. If the small snippet of info is to be believed, then the next Moto X will have a 16 MP camera, with Clear Pixel technology, OIS, and 4K and slow-mo recording capabilities.
An impressive new feature of the purported camera is the ability to record 1080p videos at 120 fps, and 720p videos at a whopping 240 fps (though we're not sure whether the humble human eye is even capable of noticing such framerates).
