The concept of our smartphones possibly powering our laptops is one that has been explored before. A good example was about 7 years ago when Motorola took the wraps off the Lapdock which when connected to a Motorola smartphone, allowed it turn into a laptop of sorts with a bigger display and a physical keyboard.
If you thought that was a pretty cool feature, then you might be interested to learn that Lenovo/Motorola could be bringing it back. This is according to a tweet by Evan Blass in which a images of an Android desktop UI was spotted for a product called the “Moto ModBook”. This seems to be fairly recent as Blass points to the Z2-era wallpaper in the background.
This would suggest that someone at Lenovo could be interested in recreating the device, and based on the name, it would seem to allude to the possibility of this device being some kind of Moto Mod. Take it with a grain of salt for now because for all we know, this project could simply be exploratory or it might have been cancelled, so try not to get your hopes up just yet.
In the meantime what do you guys think of the idea? If Lenovo were to put out something like that, would that be a Moto Mod you might be interested in? Or do you think that there is a reason why such a concept never really took off to begin with?
