The Motorola Droid Turbo was announced late last year just before the Nexus 6 was launched by Google. It features amazing internal hardware with a 2K resolution display, a 21-megapixel camera and a mammoth 3,900 mAh battery pack. However, the smartphone has failed to make an impact on the market.
And it seems like Verizon and Motorola are keen on changing that, as they have announced three new metallic colors of the smartphone. You’re essentially getting the same smartphone but with trims in Metallic Blue, Metallic Orange and Metallic Violet. This means the color of the back cover will not change, but the camera accents and the Droid logo on the bottom back will be in the aforementioned colors.
We’re not sure if these variants will be enough to bring back the Droid Turbo to relevancy again, but it’s certainly worth a shot. One grey area with regards to the Droid Turbo has been the software support. But Motorola and Verizon have assured customers that the smartphone will be making the leap to Android 5.1 directly from Android 4.4, skipping Android 5.0 in the process.
These new models will be available for purchase from Verizon starting May 28. Are you more likely to get the Droid Turbo now after the launch of these new metallic colors? Sound off below.
