Just as promised at launch, if a bit late, Motorola has released the Developer Edition versions of its X flagship device.
Moto X Developer Edition will cost $649, comes with 32GB of storage, easily unlockable bootloader and is available on Verizon today. The X for GSM networks (AT&T and T-Mobile) still has a “Coming soon” label, but should start shipping in a few days, too.
In addition to its own branded flagship, Motorola also launched a Developer Edition of Verizon’s Droid Maxx.
All other specs for all three developer phones are the same as traditional models. But you do lose cover color choice and customization options in lieu of easily unlockable bootloader. Both Verizon and GSM Moto X Developer Editions are only available with black front and white back plates.
You’ll have to rely on custom ROMs, instead of device covers to make Moto X Dev Ed. truly yours.
