BARCELONA, Spain – Sony has introduced several new devices – Xperia Z2, Xperia M2, SmartBand SWR10 and Stereo Microphone STM10 – at Mobile World Congress.
Beginning with the Sony Xperia Z2, the latest flagship device from Sony, encased in a slimmer, sole aluminum frame is the new addition to premium Z series. The phone is said to be an exclusive entertainment package.
The Xperia Z2 is a waterproof smartphone that benefits from all of the best from Sony. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset with 2.3GHz quad-core Krait CPUs and Adreno 330 GPU. The phone is armed with a 20.7MP camera that delivers the quality of photos and videos on a 5.2-inch Full HD TRILUMINOS display.
It comes with preloaded new Xperia camera apps including Timeshift video, Creative effect, Background defocus, AR effect and Vine. In addition, the Xperia Z2 employs background noise-cancellation technology that reduces the noise by about 98%.
The phone allows access to all entertainment apps from Sony, such as What’s New, Walkman, PlayStation app, PlayMemories Online and TrackID TV. The new accessories SmartBand SWR10 and Stereo Microphone STM10 are very much compatible with phone. The Sony Xperia Z 2 will be shipped in from March 2014.
Moving to the next in line, the Sony Xperia M2 is a mid-range smartphone with a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor from Qualcomm, placed under a 4.8-inch qHD display.
The handset is only about 8.6 mm thick and takes advantage of 8MP camera and 2330mAh battery. The phone also provides access to several of Sony’s entertainment apps along with connectivity to new accessories through NFC. The Sony Xperia M2 will be released in April 2014.
Coming to the accessories section, Sony has launched two new accessories for Sony smartphones, the SmartBand SWR10 and Stereo Microphone STM10.
The SmartBand SWR10 uses Lifelog application to enhance the smart wear experience. It keeps a log on the moments of life of a user with how they communicate with others. It also helps in monitoring progress on goals and recommending on decisions. The SmartBand can be as a daily life tools with notifying on calls, messages, Tweets or acting as an alarm to wake up the user at optimum time.
