Does your son hate sports? Does he like musicals and take a strong interest in his personal hygiene? Well according to the impressively offensive “Is my son gay?” app, the answer to that question may well be “yes”.
Invented by emmene-moi, the French developers for Android, this blatantly misleading app claims to be able to determine your son’s sexuality through a simple Q&A. The app’s model for all homosexuals seems have been Jack from Will & Grace with determining factors for ‘gayness’ including the amount of time your child spends in the bathroom and whether he had an authoritarian father.
Since the app’s developers fall outside the reach of the FTC, it’s unlikely the “Is my son gay?” will be removed in the same manner several acne curing apps were last fortnight but we’d imagine a Google-lead intervention is quite probable.
Should your son be ‘proved’ not to be gay by the app, it offers you a gleeful message of support stating, “You have nothing to worry about, your son is not gay. So you have a very good chance of being a grandmother with all the joys that brings.” If he is found to be homosexual however, users are told to be tolerant and “ACCEPT IT”.
Reviews for the app on the Android Market have been mixed so far, although someone named Christopher has commented, “Unfortunately I have the answer that confirms my suspicions.” How tragic…
