Just as smartphones have grown to be an indispensable feature of 21st century, the consequences of losing all the apps and data stored on them have become increasingly grave. From memorable texts to holiday snaps captured on the spur of the moment, there’s plenty that can get lost in the ether should your Android get wiped or stolen. Thankfully MyBackup Pro is here to intervene in those worst case scenarios so that while your smartphone may be gone forever, the data that’s stored on it isn’t.
Like most Android utility apps, MyBackup Pro boasts an incredibly boring but simple menu system. Every conceivable action can be accessed with a couple of clicks across its monochrome pages, allowing you to backup and restore whatever crucial tidbits you had stored on your smartphone.
Apps, media and data can be saved locally on your SD card or online through Rerware’s online storage facilities. By downloading MyBackup Pro you’ll receive a paltry 100MB to store your valuables on the web meaning serious users will regard upgrading as a necessity. It’s $1 per month for 250MB or $2 per month for 1GB which is actually quite a lot when you consider Dropbox offers 2GB for free. Unlike Dropbox you can’t access your files from the app, only view a list which lets you know they’re safely stored away in their internet cubby hole.
On the plus side the app works perfectly well so that managing your files is both speedy and easy. Accessing them from your SD card or Rerware storage online is a doddle and if you have a problem, tech support are both swift and reliable in their response. You can even set backups to restore on a daily or weekly basis so the app does its work unnoticed in the corner of your Android and that’s all anyone wants isn’t it?
The Bottom Line
MyBackup plays a swell data storage game but suffers drastically for not being as good as the free Dropbox service. If you’ve got money to burn on the app itself and then additional web storage, this Android utility will do its job with great aplomb.
