Netflix is a go to app for many iOS users, and today it was updated to version 5.0 with a few valuable new additions. The first is HD video streaming of eligible content, based on internet connection. It has been promised for quite awhile, and now it’s finally here, which is a big upgrade, especially on retina devices. Also, the entire app has been updated for iOS 7 to work with the new OS. Another big new feature is native AirPlay allowing you to send what your watching on iOS to the Apple TV in full resolution. The app requires disabling of AirPlay Mirroring to have the new AirPlay feature, and while there is a Netflix app on the Apple TV, it’s much easier to browse videos on your iOS device.
Netflix (Free, Universal) is a free universal app, though it requires a $7.99 monthly streaming subscription to access. Keep in mind that streaming HD video on LTE can eat up a monthly allotment pretty quickly.
