Samsung has already announced three tablets this year: Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, and Galaxy Tab 3 10.1. And the fourth one could be bigger than all of them.
According to Korean website ET News, Samsung intends to introduce a 12.2 inch tablet sometime in the third quarter of this year – thus in September the latest. There is no word on what name the tablet will have, but it’s almost certainly going to be included in the Galaxy Tab family. In any case, it’s said the device’s 12.2 inch display has a 2,560 x 1,600 pixel resolution. Moreover, the Korean publication says it will come with an S-Pen Stylus – like the Galaxy Note 10.1 and Galaxy Note 8.0.
This 12.2 inch Samsung tablet could be the rumored Galaxy Tab3 Plus. However, we’ve heard that the latter would sport a 10.1 inch display – this detail, of course, might not be true, so we can’t be sure of anything until official details arrive.
The recently unveiled Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 and Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 both use Atom processors, so it will be interesting to see if Samsung continues its collaboration with Intel for the upcoming 12.2 inch model.
Early next year, Apple might also introduce a giant tablet, possibly called iPad Maxi and featuring a 12.9 inch display. If Samsung indeed launches its 12.2 inch Galaxy Tab this year, it will have enough time to sell many of them – with almost no other direct competitors on the market.
