The Asus Fonepad HD 7 that we told you about last month is real, and the Bluetooth SIG has already published an image of it (here) – probably without Asus’ consent.
The SIG confirms that the new Fonepad (model number K00E) comes with an Intel Atom Z2560 Clover Trail+ processor – unlike the original Fonepad, which has a slightly older Intel Atom Z2420 Lexington chipset.
Also confirmed are 3G connectivity, dual speakers (visible on the front), and a 7 inch display with 1280 x 800 pixels. From what was previously rumored, the Fonepad HD 7 should further offer a 5MP rear camera, 1GB of RAM, 8GB to 32GB of internal memory, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
At the moment, the original Asus Fonepad (available since April) costs €230 in Europe. Naturally, the Fonepad HD 7 will be more expensive, but probably not by much. We don’t know when Asus intends to announce the new tablet. We will let you know when it happens anyway.
