HTC’s next flagship smartphone, the device expected to follow the HTC One, may be called… the HTC One. According to a new report from Bloomberg published Friday, HTC’s new device will “carry the HTC One name.” Seems a bit crazy to us, at least if HTC is trying to distinguish its new phone from an old one, but it’s not unheard of in the industry.
According to reports a New HTC One is set to launch in March, under the same name. It may seem like a strange choice to release the new phone under the same name because it makes trying to distinguish the new phone from the old one a bit more difficult, but it is something that has worked successfully in the industry. One of the best examples being the Nexus 7 tablet, they released a new 2013 model with better specs.
The new HTC one will use Qualcomm’s “later Snapdragon processor” which most likely means the Snapdragon 800 chip that most other flagships have right now. It will have screen size of at least 5 inches and an improved Ultrapixel camera with that offers better focus, depth of field and image quality. The design will be pretty much the same as the previous model.
The device will reportedly be released at the end of March. That means we are likely to see HTC unveil the new device at February’s Mobile World Congress show in Spain.
