Mobile World Congress 2013 is closer and closer every day. This means that the mobile world is on steroids and leaking information here and there. One of the most anticipated devices of this year is the successor to the Samsung Galaxy S III. Last year we learned that the Galaxy S IV will not get released at Mobile World Congress, but at a later unspecified date. Today we have new information regarding this, as the scheduled release for the Galaxy S IV is week 16, which begins on April 15th. So now we have an expected release date. How about the features then?
SamMobile reports that the Samsung Galaxy S IV was earlier built under the codename Project J, and it has later been changed into Altius(J). The said device will launch in just two colours; black and white. Wireless charging and a 2,600 mAh battery are, according to SamMobile, also 100% confirmed. The model number is finalised as GT-I9500, but the Galaxy S IV marketing name is not yet final. The Koreans are apparently still having second thoughts of using the ‘bad luck’ number, which in their culture is number four.
Purely on a rumour basis are the following specs: Samsung Exynos 5 Octa (8-Core) CPU, Mali-T658 (8-Core) GPU, 4.99-inch Super AMOLED Full HD display, 2GB of RAM, 13-megapixel rear camera capable of shooting 1080p Full HD at 30 FPS, 2 Megapixel front facing camera capable of shooting 720p HD video. Android 4.2 Jelly Bean is currently rumoured to run out-of-the-box.
