9to5Mac posted an image of what is claimed to be the battery of the next generation iPhone, the new iPhone, or the iPhone 5 if you will. On the left side we have the battery of the iPhone 4S, and on the right side we see the new iPhone’s battery. The capacity is increased to 1440 mAh, up from 1430 mAh on the iPhone 4S. The voltage is also slightly up from 3.7V to 3.8V. The new battery is slightly taller, meaning that it will most probably be a bit thinner, too.
Apple is expected to bring LTE on board the iPhone 5. Devices on the market with LTE connectivity are usually insane on the battery. You’re considered lucky if you get through a whole day on a single charge. If today’s leak of the new battery is true, it means that Apple has managed to develop a chip with LTE that isn’t hard on the battery. We’ll know for sure in roughly a month when Apple is expected to finally announce the new iPhone.
