The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge was Samsung’s first widely available device to sport a curved display. While that particular curved device didn’t see an overly high demand, the high demand for the S6 Edge has proved that consumers are digging the Edges so you’d think a Note Edge 2 would be in the works. Well according to SamMobile, it is and it isn’t.
According to the reputable Samsung news site, the next generation Note Edge may note actually be a Note device at all any more as they are reporting that their will be no S-Pen functionality on the device. Rather than being a curved version of the Note 5, the Note Edge successor, SMG928 (codenamed Project Zero 2), is better described as a larger version of the S6 Edge. The device is expected to sport a slightly larger 5.4″ or 5.5″ but will similarly utilize a dual edged design.
In addition to the lack of S-Pen, the Note Edge successor may also sport a different processor than the Note 5. The Note 5 is expected to utilize the new octo-core Exynos 7422 whereas the Project Zero 2 device will utilize the hexa-core Snapdragon 808. Other specs for Project Zero 2 include 32GB of storage, 16MP camera with OIS and a 5MP front facing shooter.
