Amazon next Kindle Fire is rumored to sport an 8-core processor from MediaTek that promises to offer better performance while keeping Amazon's costs low.
According to a report in Digitimes, the MediaTek chip is actually a quad-core solution that uses ARM Holding's big.LITTLE architecture. What this means is that the chip has four high-powered cores for performance intensive tasks, but also four low-powered cores that get activated when idle or using less demanding applications (all 8-cores aren't activated at the same time).
