The Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 have been spotted running on the build number KRS36B, hinting strongly at a possible Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie based build. Google has traditionally named the build numbers starting with the letter of the operating system. Jelly Bean build numbers usually begin with the alphabet ‘J’ (JWR66V), Ice Cream Sandwich with ‘I’ (IMM76L) and so on. The build numbers were spotted on the Chromium forum. This new revelation was found under a post on bug 267659.
There is no concrete evidence to prove the existence of Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie just yet, but this is certainly a start. The Chromium forums are usually considered a reliable source for all the piping hot leaks on Android versions. With Google just recently launching Android 4.3, we think it could be a while until we see the next major version of Android. However, seeing that a Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 refresh is in order, it wouldn’t surprise us if Google announces a new version of Android this October.
