As you know, this morning the Nexus 10 and Nexus 4 got their updates to Android 4.2.1, now it’s the Nexus 7′s turn. The Nexus 7 is receiving Android 4.2.1 via an OTA update, just like on the Nexus 10 and Nexus 4. Keep in mind that there’s nothing mind-blowing going on, as this is just a simple bug fix for the missing December month on the people application. The update also makes joystick and gamepads as HID devices. This update really isn’t a huge difference from what the Nexus 10 and Nexus 4 update brought to the table, but it is definitely welcome nonetheless.
Regardless of this being a minor update, it’s usually best to download it as soon as you can anyway. Updates are extremely important, and they really shouldn’t be put off.
Android Central has provided instructions on where to go to flash the update on your device manually. Those who are seasoned in rooting and flashing devices will be grateful to hear about this. You can find those via the source link below.
