Need more reasons to love your Google Nexus 7 tablet? Perhaps yet another reason to convince you to go out and purchase one? It turns out the Nexus 7 is one tough cookie compared to that other fruit bearing tablet. The guys over at Squaretrade performed several tests on the Google Nexus 7 and the new Apple iPad to test its durability. Needless to say, the Nexus 7 won in a landslide.
First off they dropped both tablets numerous times at several different angles, and while the Nexus 7 stayed fully intact (minus minor scuff marks on the back-plate) with no cracks on the screen, the iPad suffered from a cracked screen and the corners were essentially smashed and bent. Their next test was dropping both tablets in a tub filled with water. Both tablets still worked after taking them out, the the iPad’s audio speakers were nonfunctional while the Nexus 7′s were perfectly working.
There you have it folks, looks like even for a tablet starting at $199, ASUS and Google made a quality tablet that can endure drops and water damage. Hit the break to watch the video of the demonstration and let us know what you think!
