This photo of the Wii U was posted on twitter earlier today but taken down promptly after the user received some complaints. As you can see in the photo there seems to be a group of females all with the same box, some rumours seem to suggest the females belong to the Ubisoft organisation and were given out for testing and focus group research.
Nintendo did the same thing with the Wii when they recruited a series of “Wii Ambassadors” throughout the country to play host to a series of secret Wii parties.
As part of the agreement for being a “Wii Ambassador” and testing the console/providing feedback, I imagine Nintendo will not have wanted photos of the console leaked onto the internet for all to see, so I imagine the person responsible is regretting their decision to upload a photo of the console to twitter for the whole world to see.
Nintendo have been keeping tight lipped about the Wii U although there was a rumour recently that it would be released on the November 18th, however that date was quickly denied. We should know more regarding the release date in Now York City on September 13 as Nintendo sent out invites to a press event on that day. Nintendo are expected to announce the release date which should be this side of Christmas.
