Nissan is taking advantage of a previously unexploited Apple iAd feature: the ability to offer 360-degree views with so-called gyro technology.
The ad for the Versa, demoed above, offers an immersive view of the car. If you move your iPhone to the left or right while you’re viewing the ad, you’ll get a different view. The app-like ad has other features, too: Shake your phone, for instance, and the people in the ad will put on different hats.
Nissan was one of the first advertisers for iAd when the platform premiered in July 2010. In a nice bit of synergy, Apple’s longtime ad agency, TBWA\Chiat\Day, created the Nissan iAd.
