ESPOO, Finland – Nokia has ordered customers across major European countries to suspend the use of its Nokia Lumia 2520 AC-300 chargers owing to faulty construction.
According to an official announcement, there are in all nearly 30 000 chargers that have been impacted in Europe, with nearly 600 units in US.
During an internal quality control process, the company identified a product quality issue with its AC-300 chargers manufactured by a third-party supplier that could have led to a serious safety concern. It was found that the plastic cover of the exchangeable plug got loose and eventually separated, which could lead to a possibility of electric shock if it is touched, in case the plug remains in a live socket.
The company said that in urgency, it temporarily suspended the sales of the Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet, including the Ac-300 chargers themselves which are exclusively designed for the tablet.
