Remember when HTC dissed Nokia’s direction for more pixels and said theirs was the better route, i.e. 4MP “ultrapixels”. Since then, their ultrapixels have been the main thing lacking in all the reviews, so much so that their M9 suprisingly goes back the opposite direction with 20mp. Either way, more pixels at least for HTC isn’t outperforming Nokia’s older Nokia Lumia 930 for the audience of PhoneArena.
The Note 4, iPhone 6 and Nexus 6 were also part of this test and the Nokia bested them one too. BTW, of all the other competing phones I liked the iPhone’s results – particularly for front camera.
But props at least to both HTC and Samsung who are continuing year on year to put out a flagship (M9 looks real tasty and the S6 Edge is very interesting). Whilst you might say that Nokia, now Microsoft created a flagship to last (hence still has an epic camera to this day), Lumia cannot keep letting others catch up. Looking more closely at the results, the audience votes in the blind tests sometimes had iPhone, HTC, or S5 producing a better photo in other scenes. Something else to think about might be that the bst Nokia/Lumia camera might still be the even older 1020.
